  This is the genuine Ford radiator support tie bar for the 2020-2021 Transit full size van, cataloged under base number 8125 with the names Radiator Support Tie Bar, Support Radiator and lower tie bar. It is the transverse structural member that ties the front end together across the bottom of the cooling stack and locates the radiator, condenser and coolant container assembly. Ford lists it for the Transit T-150, T-250 and T-350 chassis. Functionally the tie bar is doing two jobs at once. It is a structural crossmember that holds the radiator support in alignment with the front body and hood latch geometry, and it is the mounting platform that carries the lower isolators the radiator sits on so that engine and road vibration are not transmitted directly into the cooling cores. When it is bent, cracked or corroded, the symptoms show up as a radiator that sits crooked or vibrates, a hood that no longer latches or aligns to the fenders, rubbing or contact between the fan shroud and the cooling stack, and in severe cases a cracked radiator end tank from unsupported load. It is almost always replaced as part of front end collision repair, or after heavy corrosion on a high mileage commercial van. Installation requires supporting the cooling stack while the old bar is removed, and the lower radiator isolators should be inspected and renewed at the same time so the radiator is not resting on hardened rubber.
