This is a genuine Ford ignition coil for the 1.5L EcoBoost three-cylinder engine used in 20-22 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles. The coil-on-plug assembly sits directly above each spark plug and transforms the low-voltage signal from the powertrain control module into the high-voltage discharge needed to fire the plug. Failure symptoms include a rough idle, misfire diagnostic trouble codes such as P0301 through P0303, hesitation under acceleration, reduced fuel economy, and a flashing check engine light during severe misfire events. Coils on the 1.5L EcoBoost are particularly vulnerable to heat soak and carbon tracking due to the compact engine bay packaging. Ford service procedures call for replacing the coil and spark plug as a matched pair when a misfire is diagnosed on a specific cylinder. Installation requires removing the engine cover and disconnecting the coil harness connector before lifting the coil straight out of the plug well. Use a small amount of dielectric grease on the boot during reinstallation to seal against moisture and ease future removal.
