This is a genuine Ford front suspension jounce bumper (spring bumper) for 2020-2022 F-53 motorhome and F-59 commercial stripped chassis. The jounce bumper is the progressive rubber stop that cushions the suspension at the end of its upward travel, preventing metal-to-metal contact between the axle and frame over large bumps, dips, and heavy load compression, and it helps protect the springs, shocks, and chassis from shock loading on these heavy motorhome and commercial platforms. Replace the bumper when the rubber is cracked, crumbling, oil-soaked, compressed, or missing, or when you hear a harsh clunk or bottoming impact over bumps and driveway entries. This service number supersedes the earlier LU9Z-3020-A and LU9Z-3020-B jounce bumpers for these chassis. Ford's service procedure calls for tightening the jounce bumper fastener to the specified torque (approximately 47.5 Nm) on installation. Confirm the front suspension position and your chassis model year against this number before ordering, and inspect the opposite side along with the shocks and springs while the suspension is accessible, since a bottomed-out bumper often points to worn dampers or sagging springs.
