This Genuine Ford Diesel Glow Plug Controller, also called the Glow Plug Relay and cross-referenced as Motorcraft DY-1511, fits the 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel in F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD trucks. The controller delivers the timed, switched voltage to the bank of glow plugs that heats the precombustion chambers at start and during the engine's warm-up phase, working under PCM command. Replacement is common when one or more glow plugs do not actuate during the start sequence, when the engine logs a glow plug controller fault, or when a no-start condition is traced to the relay rather than the plugs themselves. The controller is sided and keyed to the harness connector that runs to it; mis-routing the connector will leave the system non-functional. After installation, command the glow plug sequence through a scan tool, verify each cylinder bank responds, and confirm there are no stored DTCs against the controller before returning the vehicle.
