• Description:

  This Genuine Ford air conditioning compressor with clutch fits 20-22 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks equipped with the 7.3L Godzilla gas V8. It supersedes earlier A, B, and F suffixes and carries cross references YCC-596 and YCC-630. The compressor circulates refrigerant under pressure through the closed loop of the climate system, drawing vapor from the evaporator and forcing it through the condenser, where the refrigerant rejects heat and condenses to a liquid that returns through the expansion device. The clutch engages and disengages the pulley to the compressor shaft on command from the powertrain control module, modulating system pressure and cooling load. non-OEM compressors are notorious for weak field coils, undersized shaft seals, and out-of-spec swash plate angles that cause noise and premature failure. This Motorcraft-grade unit ships with the clutch, pulley, and field coil preinstalled and bench-tested to factory specification. Recover the refrigerant before opening the system, replace the receiver drier or accumulator and the orifice tube on every compressor swap, and observe the system oil balance procedure using only the specified PAG oil. Ford uses sealing washers at the line connections that are single-use; replace them and torque to the published specification, then evacuate and recharge with the correct refrigerant weight.
