  This is a genuine Ford engine valve cover gasket sized for the passenger-side valve cover on 20-23 Explorer models equipped with the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine. The valve cover gasket forms the oil-tight seal between the aluminum valve cover and the cylinder head, keeping engine oil contained at the top of the head and preventing contamination of the spark plug wells, ignition coils, and exhaust manifolds. Typical failure symptoms include visible oil seepage along the upper edge of the head, the smell of burning oil after extended highway driving, oil residue on the back of the engine bay, and rough running if oil reaches the spark plug tubes. The 3.0L twin-turbo V6 runs hot under the hood because of the integrated exhaust manifold turbochargers mounted close to the valve covers, which accelerates rubber hardening on non-OEM gaskets. This original equipment Ford gasket is engineered with the correct rubber compound and steel reinforcement carrier to seal reliably across the engine temperature range.
