  This is a genuine Ford automatic transmission extension housing seal for 20-23 Transit applications equipped with the 3.5L gas or 3.5L flex fuel V6 engine. Ford catalogs this part as Other Name Extension Housing Seal. The seal rides on the transmission output shaft and keeps automatic transmission fluid contained inside the extension housing while the driveshaft yoke slides through during normal operation. Symptoms of a failed extension housing seal include a slow drip of red ATF behind the transmission, fluid pooled on top of the front driveshaft yoke, low fluid level on the dipstick or scan tool reading, fluid residue on the back of the transmission bell, and in severe cases a fluid spray pattern along the underbody at highway speeds.
