  This genuine Ford hood stay, or support prop rod, is the OEM metal rod that props the hood open and holds it securely in the raised position for engine-bay access on the Ford Transit Connect. It fits 2020 through 2023 Transit Connect vans and supersedes the earlier KT1Z-16826-A rod, carrying the correct length and end bends to seat in the hood pivot and drop into the retaining clip on the body. Owners replace this rod when the original is bent, rusted, or no longer holds the hood up reliably, when the end has broken or pulled out of its retainer, or when the rod is missing from a used vehicle and the hood will not stay open on its own. A rod that fails to latch or hold lets the hood drift down during service, which is both an inconvenience and a pinch hazard.
