The cap snaps into the rear bumper cover opening where the trailer hitch receiver tube exits, providing a finished bumper appearance when the receiver is not in use. As an OEM Ford cap the surface texture and color treatment match the surrounding rear bumper cover so the cap is essentially invisible when in place, and the underlying clip pattern seats positively into the bumper cover substrate to resist falling out from road vibration and trailer hookup activity. non-OEM receiver covers in this position commonly mis-match the bumper texture or rattle free at highway speeds.
