Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator, Regulator Fuel Pressure, cm5320

  • Description:

This is the genuine Ford fuel injection pressure regulator for the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel, mounted at the fuel rail on 2020 and newer Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks. Ford also catalogs it as a fuel pressure regulator and within the pressure sensor family. In the high pressure common rail system, the regulator is the valve the powertrain control module commands to bleed rail pressure back to return, holding the rail at the pressure the calibration demands for a given load and speed. Accurate rail pressure is what allows the injectors to deliver the correct fuel mass at the correct instant, so when the regulator sticks, leaks internally, or loses its ability to hold commanded pressure, driveability suffers immediately. Symptoms buyers describe include hard starting or extended cranking, especially when hot, a rough or unstable idle, a noticeable loss of power and towing capability, white or grey smoke at start, surging under steady throttle, the engine dropping into reduced power mode, and stored fuel rail pressure trouble codes for pressure above or below the desired value. Contamination from a failed high pressure pump or from poor fuel is the most common cause of regulator failure, and if the pump has come apart the entire fuel system typically needs cleaning or replacement rather than just this component. Replacement demands strict cleanliness because the common rail system is intolerant of debris: relieve fuel pressure, cap every opened line, and keep the work area clean. Torque the regulator to the published specification and check for leaks under pressure before returning the truck to service. As a genuine Ford part, the regulator matches the calibration the powertrain control module expects, preserving rail pressure control and emissions compliance.
