This Genuine Ford Diesel Glow Plug, cross-referenced as Motorcraft ZD-26, fits the 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel in 20-24 Ford F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, and F-600 SD, plus 21-22 F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks. The glow plug heats the precombustion chamber at engine start to bring combustion temperature up quickly in cold conditions, reducing crank time and smoke at startup. Replacement is common when the engine starts hard in cold weather, when the glow plug warning light flashes or stays on, or when one or more plugs fail the resistance test during diagnosis of a no-start. Glow plugs are often replaced as a complete group rather than individually, since plugs that have aged together tend to fail in sequence and the labor to remove a single plug exposes the others. Use new compression seals as required, torque each plug to the Ford-specified value, and verify glow plug operation through scan-tool command before clearing any stored codes related to the glow plug system.
