• Description:

  This Genuine Ford engine camshaft follower or valve tappet fits 20-24 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty and E-350 Super Duty trucks with the 7.3L Godzilla or 6.8L gas V8. It is a service supersession that consolidates earlier LC3Z-6500-A and LC3Z-6500-B part numbers. The lifter or tappet sits between the camshaft lobe and the pushrod, taking up valve lash automatically through a pressurized oil pin in the lifter body and transmitting the cam profile to the pushrod and rocker arm to operate the valve. A failed lifter causes valve train ticking on cold start that persists once warm, intermittent ticking under specific load conditions, and at the limit can cause cam lobe wear if the lifter body locks down on the lobe. non-OEM lifters are commonly mis-spec on oil bleed rate or body geometry, leading to noise and early failure. Replace lifters as a complete set when one is found to be failed, prime each lifter in clean engine oil before installation, and confirm pushrod length and rocker arm geometry per the workshop manual before final assembly.
