This Genuine Ford Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator, also cataloged as the By-Pass Control Valve, fits 2.3L EcoBoost applications across the 20-24 Bronco, 20-24 Explorer (built to the 5/13/2024 cutoff), and 20-25 Ranger. The actuator controls the wastegate flap on the turbocharger, opening it to bypass exhaust around the turbine wheel once boost pressure reaches its target and protecting the turbo from overspeed. Replacement is common when the engine logs an underboost or overboost diagnostic code, when boost response feels sluggish from a stop, or when the actuator itself becomes audible at idle from internal mechanism wear. The actuator pairs with the turbocharger and is not interchangeable with units for other engine families. After installation, the actuator must learn its end-stops; the Ford procedure involves cycling the actuator through its full travel under scan-tool command. Without the learn, the engine will run conservatively and may continue to log boost-related codes. Verify the linkage is free, the connector is fully seated, and there are no obvious exhaust leaks at the turbine inlet before clearing codes.
