This is the genuine Ford coolant housing gasket P2GZ-8255-B for Escape 1.5L, Explorer 2.0L hybrid, and 2.3L applications, sealing the coolant outlet housing to the engine. The gasket seals the joint between the housing and the block or head so coolant flows through the circuit without leaking at the connection. It is a single-use sealing component that should be replaced whenever the housing is removed, since a reused gasket may not seal the joint. Ford produces the gasket in the correct material and profile so it seats and seals against the system temperature and pressure. Owners replace the gasket to cure a coolant leak at the housing or after service that requires the housing to be removed. Installation fits a fresh gasket to clean, dry mating surfaces, with the housing fasteners tightened in the specified sequence and torque, after which the system is refilled with the correct coolant and bled.
