• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford electric parking brake actuator motor for the rear caliper, the current service replacement that supersedes L1MZ-2B712-A, -B, and -C in the same family. Fitment covers 20-25 Explorer, 20-25 Aviator, and 20-25 Police Interceptor Utility builds equipped with the electric parking brake system, which encompasses the great majority of U625 platform vehicles. The motor mounts to the rear caliper housing and drives the screw spindle that applies clamping force to the pads when the parking brake switch is pulled, the auto-hold function engages, or the vehicle is placed in park with the parking brake set to auto. Drivers reach for this part when the dash shows a parking brake fault, when the brake fails to engage or release with the normal whirring sound absent, when DTCs related to the EPB motor or position sensor are stored, or when a brake service requires the caliper piston to be retracted and the motor has reached end of life. The replacement arrives as a sealed assembly with the integrated motor, gearbox, and connector pigtail, and installs to the caliper with the captive mounting bolts that ship in the original position. After installation, the EPB system must be initialized through the diagnostic scan tool to teach the new motor its full travel range and apply the correct calibration, otherwise the system may report position errors. Install in pairs only if both rear motors have reached end of life, and always inspect the caliper for piston seizure or rust scale that will overload the new motor and shorten its service life.
