• Description:

  This Genuine Ford timing cover gasket fits 20-25 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 Super Duty and E-350 Super Duty trucks with the 7.3L Godzilla or 6.8L gas V8. It is used at the center rear position on the 6.8L application and the number 2 position on the 7.3L application. The gasket is included with the front cover when sold as an assembly and is also sold separately for service. The gasket seals the timing cover to the cylinder block and retains engine oil inside the timing chain, oil pump drive, and crankshaft snout cavity while allowing the front-cover-mounted oil pump to draw and discharge cleanly. A leaking timing cover gasket allows oil weeping at the front crankshaft seal area and the lower edge of the cover, sometimes mistaken for a front crankshaft oil seal failure. The gasket is a one-time-use sealing element; when the front cover is removed for timing chain service, oil pump replacement, water pump service, or front crankshaft seal renewal, replace the gasket before reassembly. Clean mating surfaces thoroughly, install dry without supplementary sealant, and torque the cover bolts in the cross-pattern to the published specification.
