• Description:

  This Genuine Ford valve cover gasket fits 20-25 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 Super Duty and E-350 and E-450 Super Duty trucks with the 7.3L Godzilla or 6.8L gas V8. It is included in the LC3Z-6079-E and LU7Z-6079-C engine gasket kits and is also sold separately for individual valve cover service. The valve cover gasket seals the valve cover to the cylinder head and keeps engine oil contained inside the valve train cavity while allowing the PCV system and oil filler to vent crankcase pressure correctly. A weeping or leaking valve cover gasket allows oil drips down the cylinder head and onto the exhaust manifold or spark plug wells, sometimes mistaken for an oil leak from the cylinder head gasket, and can cause spark plug well oil that fouls the boots and ignition coils. non-OEM gaskets often use inferior elastomers that compress and harden quickly. The gasket should be replaced any time the valve cover is removed. Clean both mating surfaces thoroughly, install dry without sealant, route the wiring harness clear during reassembly, and torque the valve cover bolts in the cross pattern to the published specification.
