• Description:

  This Genuine Ford automatic transmission output shaft seal fits 20-25 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks with the 10R140 ten-speed automatic transmission, in the four-wheel drive variant. The output shaft seal sits in the transmission tail housing or transfer case mating flange and seals the output shaft, retaining transmission fluid inside the housing while allowing the shaft to rotate freely under all load conditions. The 4WD variant uses different lip geometry and outer diameter than the rear-wheel drive variant and is not interchangeable. A failed output shaft seal allows transmission fluid to weep down the lower transmission and onto the transfer case mating flange, can drop fluid level enough to cause harsh shifts and limp behavior if ignored, and can sometimes be mistaken for a transfer case input seal leak. The seal is a one-time-use sealing element; whenever the transfer case is removed for any reason, the seal should be inspected and replaced. Use the correct seal installer tooling so the seal is driven square to the correct depth, lightly lubricate the lip, and refill the transmission after the install.
