This is the genuine Motorcraft transmission oil filter for the 10R140 ten-speed heavy-duty automatic used behind the 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel. The filter screens fluid entering the front pump and protects the valve body, solenoids, and the heavy clutch packs that handle the diesel's torque, keeping metallic debris and clutch material out of the hydraulic control circuits. It fits 2020 through 2025 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 trucks equipped with the 6.7L diesel and the 10R140 transmission. A clogged filter or overdue fluid service shows up as harsh or delayed engagement, slipping under trailer load, shudder, gear hunting, whine, and elevated transmission temperature. Ford catalogs this as Motorcraft FT-221, cross-referenced to service part LC3Z-7G186-A. Replace the filter whenever the pan is dropped or the fluid is serviced, refill only with the specified Motorcraft transmission fluid, and set the level using the temperature-controlled fill procedure.
