  This is a genuine Ford automatic transmission extension housing seal for 20-25 Transit AWD, Bronco, Explorer 4WD, Lincoln Aviator, F-150 4WD with hybrid, and Police Interceptor Utility models. The output shaft seal rides on the transmission output flange and keeps automatic transmission fluid inside the extension housing while the driveshaft yoke or transfer case input slides through. Symptoms of a failed seal include a slow drip of red automatic transmission fluid behind the transmission, fluid pooled on top of the front driveshaft yoke, low fluid level on the dipstick or scan tool reading, and fluid residue on the back of the transfer case bell. Allowing the leak to continue starves the transmission of fluid and can cause shifting issues, slipping, or in severe cases damage to the planetary gearset from low fluid pressure. Buyers typically need this seal during a transfer case service, after a leak develops, when replacing the rear main of the transmission, or as part of a driveshaft service that disturbs the rear yoke.
