This is a genuine Ford OEM front strut assembly for the passenger side of the 20-26 Ford Explorer in AWD without Interceptor with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine and no Timberline trim, in RWD with the 2.3L engine, and in 3.3L gas configurations. This part supersedes legacy reference ASH-85982 and earlier suffix LB5Z-18124-A and is the current service part. The strut is a complete pre-loaded assembly including the strut tube, internal valving, coil spring, upper mount, and upper bearing. As an OEM Ford strut the damping and spring rate are calibrated to the lighter front weight of the 2.3L and 3.3L Explorer configurations, providing the correct ride frequency without the heavier-engine spring rate that would over-spring the chassis. Confirm engine, drivetrain, and trim before ordering. Always replace front struts as a pair to maintain symmetric handling. Install per Ford workshop manual and align the vehicle after installation.
