This is the genuine Ford serpentine belt that drives the air conditioning compressor and the dual-alternator accessory system on 21-23 F-150 with the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid powertrain. The belt routing on the PowerBoost is unique to this hybrid configuration and is engineered for the additional alternator load and the auxiliary cooling demands of the hybrid system. A worn belt may produce squeal under wet conditions, AC compressor chirp, or visible cracking and chunking along the rib face. Because the PowerBoost system uses the engine to recharge the hybrid battery during driving and idle, an accessory belt failure here has a more immediate impact on the entire propulsion system than on a conventional truck. Inspect the tensioner and any idler pulleys whenever the belt is removed; replace any pulley with roughness, lateral play, or seal weep at the same service. Confirm correct routing against the underhood placard before tensioning, since the PowerBoost layout differs noticeably from non-hybrid 3.5L EB routing. Use only the Ford-specified belt length and rib count on this engine; an incorrect non-OEM belt frequently causes tensioner fatigue, accessory pulley wear, and intermittent battery management faults stored by the powertrain control module.
