  This genuine Ford timing chain tensioner arm guides and bears against the timing chain on the left bank of the 3.5 liter engine in the 21-24 F-150, Expedition and Navigator, working with the hydraulic tensioner to keep correct chain tension. By controlling slack, it maintains accurate valve timing and reduces chain noise and wear over the life of the engine. A worn tensioner arm or its wear face can allow chain rattle, especially on startup, a ticking or slapping noise from the front cover, or in severe cases a cam-timing fault as slack builds.
