• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford engine coolant thermostat for 21-23 F-150 and 22-24 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost. The thermostat regulates coolant flow between the block and the radiator, opening at the specified rating to bring the engine to operating temperature efficiently and then modulating to maintain that temperature under varying load. A stuck-closed thermostat causes overheating, fan engagement at low speed, and possible coolant boil-over; a stuck-open thermostat causes long warm-up times, poor heater performance in cold weather, reduced fuel economy, and lower combustion efficiency. Replace the thermostat as a unit rather than attempting to clean or refurbish the original; once the wax pellet has been heat-cycled to failure, it will not seat reliably. The thermostat housing gasket or seal must be replaced at the same time and should never be reused. After installation, refill the cooling system with the correct Motorcraft-specified coolant, then run the documented bleed procedure to clear air pockets from the heater core, the turbocharger coolant feed loops, and the rear of the block. Confirm thermostat function by verifying that the upper radiator hose remains cool until the engine reaches its rated opening temperature, then warms quickly once flow is established.
