This Genuine Ford ML3Z-7B215-B is an internal seal for the 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission fitted to 21-25 F-150 applications. The molded fluorocarbon or composite seal locates inside the transmission case at a specific clutch piston or shaft sealing point, isolating two adjacent hydraulic circuits so the valve body can apply and release each clutch element independently during shift events. The high-temperature material is rated for the operating environment inside the 10R80 case and resists hardening, shrinking, and abrasion across the transmission's service life. Technicians install this seal during a complete 10R80 rebuild, during a CDF cylinder service per Ford TSB 25-2474 or 25-2429 where multiple internal seals are replaced as a kit, during a clutch pack service that requires the piston to be removed, or after a transmission failure has scattered debris through the hydraulic circuits and a full rebuild is required. Installation is a transmission-shop task requiring the 10R80 to be partially or fully disassembled, the seal location identified and cleaned, the new seal seated into its groove with a light coat of factory-spec lubricant, and the piston or shaft installed without rolling the seal lip.
