This Genuine Ford ML3Z-6279-B is the alternate crankshaft pulley and harmonic damper assembly variant for 21-25 F-150 applications, differing from the A-suffix in groove pattern or accessory drive pulley geometry for specific engine packages on the F-150 platform. The damper bolts to the front of the crankshaft and serves three functions in one assembly. It drives the accessory belt around the alternator, water pump, A/C compressor, and power steering pump where applicable. It anchors the crankshaft position sensor reluctor wheel the engine ECM reads to determine crankshaft speed and angular position. And it absorbs torsional vibration through an elastomeric layer between the inner hub and the outer pulley ring so the crankshaft does not flex in resonance and the front main bearing service life is preserved. Owners replace this damper when the elastomeric layer separates and the outer pulley ring wobbles, when accessory belt tracking becomes erratic because the pulley face has shifted off the crank centerline, when a crank-sensor DTC traces to a damaged reluctor edge, or when the front-cover seal has scored a groove into the damper hub. Installation requires a proper crank pulley installer and a single-use crankshaft bolt torqued to Ford specification.
