• Description:

  This Genuine Ford ML3Z-4851-A is the differential or driveshaft companion flange for 21-25 F-150 trucks. The flange bolts to the pinion shaft on the rear differential or to the transfer case output, mating with the corresponding U-joint flange yoke on the driveshaft to transfer driveline torque from the differential or transfer case to the driveshaft. The pilot bore on the back face of the flange locates the U-joint yoke during torque transfer, while the bolt-pattern face transmits the rotational input through the U-joint cross. Owners replace this flange when the pilot bore wears oval and allows driveshaft runout that creates vibration at speed, when the U-joint cup-bore faces are damaged from a previous loose flange bolt, when the original flange splines wear loose on the pinion shaft, or during a complete differential rebuild that requires fresh hardware. Installation requires the original flange to be pressed off the pinion shaft, the new flange pressed on, the pinion nut torqued through the new crush sleeve to the proper preload, and the driveshaft bolted back up with the original phasing marks aligned. Use new flange bolts and torque to Ford spec to avoid a wallowed-out bolt-hole vibration.
