This Genuine Ford ML3Z-7H351-B is the CDF (Clutch D-clutch Forward) cylinder assembly for the 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission fitted to 21-25 F-150 and 22-25 Expedition and Navigator applications. The CDF cylinder houses the D Clutch element and serves as the central rotating drum that supports multiple clutch piston circuits within the 10R80 architecture, making it the central wear point during 10R80 internal failures. Per Ford TSB 25-2474, which supersedes TSB 25-2429 and TSB 23-2250, the CDF Cylinder Replacement procedure is the prescribed repair for specific 10R80 failure patterns including hard shifts, delayed engagements, and certain torque converter shudder symptoms. The TSB calls for the CDF cylinder to be replaced along with a complete kit of friction plates, steel plates, balance dam seals, direct clutch seals, snap rings, and selective shims to restore the transmission to factory shift-quality spec. Each engine variant has its own CDF cylinder part number that cannot be cross-substituted. Installation is a transmission-shop task requiring the 10R80 to be removed, the case opened, the original CDF cylinder removed with its clutch packs, and the new cylinder installed with all TSB-required hardware before reassembly.
