• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford EGR cooler for 21-25 F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator with the 3.5L EcoBoost. The cooler is part of the EGR modulator subsystem and reduces the temperature of recirculated exhaust gas before it returns to the intake stream, lowering combustion peak temperatures and reducing oxides of nitrogen emissions. This service part supersedes the earlier ML3Z-9F464-A and ML3Z-9F464-B references, and is included with the EGR modulator assembly when that larger service is performed. The cooler carries a core charge at most dealers. Failure modes include coolant leakage into the EGR stream visible as white exhaust smoke, a check engine light with EGR temperature or flow codes, persistent NOx-related emission codes, or a noticeable coolant loss with no external leak. Replacement requires removal of the EGR valve, the EGR connecting tube, and disconnection of the coolant inlet and outlet lines, with appropriate care to capture coolant during the service. Refill the cooling system per the Ford procedure and run the published EGR self-test to confirm function before returning the engine to service.
