• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford left-side tailgate latch assembly for 21-25 F-150 and 23+ F-250 through F-350 SD with the power tailgate, configured with power release, power close, Flex Step equipped, and the split power-lock tailgate option. This service part supersedes the earlier ML3Z-9943151-A and ML3Z-9943151-B references. The latch is the powered driver-side mechanism that engages the body striker on the left, retains the gate in the closed position, and electrically actuates the release and close cycles on command from the key fob, dash switch, or kick gesture. Failure symptoms include the gate failing to latch reliably on the driver side, a chattering noise during release, slow or hesitant power close, electrical fault codes related to the tailgate module, or intermittent operation that resolves itself after a battery reset. Replacement requires partial disassembly of the tailgate inner trim and careful handling of the wiring harness connectors. Inspect the operating rods, retention clips, and the latch striker on the body at the same service. After installation, calibrate the power tailgate per the Ford service procedure and cycle the gate several times under power.
