This is the genuine Ford MU5Z-18808-PA instrument panel speaker (dash-mounted full-range driver) used in the 21-25 F-150, F-150 Lightning, F-250 through F-550 Super Duty, and Maverick. Per the Ford catalog and Sheehy Ford of Richmond dealer catalogs, the speaker mounts in the center of the dash on the instrument panel and serves as the center channel speaker in the 18-speaker premium audio system (B&O or similar premium system) on equipped trim levels. It is also used in the 8-speaker base audio system on F-150 Crew Cab and Super Cab dash mount positions, the F-150 Lightning instrument panel center, and the Maverick 8-speaker system outer instrument panel position. The speaker uses the OEM diaphragm material, voice coil winding, and magnet structure tuned to the Ford audio system DSP equalization for accurate center-channel reproduction across the assigned audio frequency band. Common failure modes include distortion at moderate volume (torn voice coil former or burned voice coil), no output (open coil or harness fault), and rattle from a loose retention clip or cracked speaker frame. Replacement requires removing the instrument panel top trim or center stack trim to access the speaker mounting points per the workshop manual.
