• Description:

  This Genuine Ford ML3Z-6020-J is the left-hand engine timing gear cover gasket for 21-25 F-150 trucks, superseded by ML3Z-6020-E on the latest updated production. The molded composite gasket seals the LH side of the engine front cover to the cylinder block face, isolating the timing chain compartment and the front main bearing oil galleries from the outside environment to prevent engine oil weeping at the cover-to-block joint. The integrated metal-core reinforcement at the bolt-hole compression zones holds the seal under repeated thermal cycling without taking a permanent compression set that would otherwise lead to seep formation around individual bolt heads. Technicians install this gasket during any service where the front timing cover is removed, including timing chain replacement, front main seal R&R where the cover must come off, water pump replacement on engines that mount the pump behind the cover, or oil pan removal where the cover must be detached first. Sealing surfaces on both the cover and the block face must be clean, dry, and free of residual material before installation, and cover bolts must be torqued in Ford-specified pattern and stages to avoid distortion.
