• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford tailgate latch assembly for 21-25 F-150 (without power tailgate, manual lock and power release configurations), 22-25 Maverick, 23+ F-250 through F-550 SD, and 22-25 F-150 Lightning. The latch operates on either the left, right, or center position depending on the truck and tailgate option. This service part supersedes the earlier ML3Z-9943150-A reference. The latch secures the tailgate to the body when closed and releases on command from the handle or, on power-equipped models, from the key fob. Failure symptoms include the gate failing to latch reliably, a chattering noise during release, intermittent power lock function, or a complete failure to release. Replacement requires partial disassembly of the tailgate inner trim and access to the latch mechanism. Inspect the operating rods, retention clips, and the latch striker on the body at the same service since access is open. After installation, cycle the gate several times to confirm clean engagement and release with no binding. Verify that the gate sits flush with the bed sides when closed and that both latches engage simultaneously on dual-latch configurations.
