• Description:

  This genuine Ford Motorcraft oxygen sensor, cataloged as Sensor Exhaust Gas Oxygen or HEGO sensor, measures oxygen content in the exhaust so the powertrain control module can hold the air-fuel ratio at the target for clean combustion and proper catalytic converter operation. Depending on the application it serves either as the upstream control sensor ahead of the converter or the downstream monitor behind it, feeding the PCM the signal it needs for closed-loop fuel trim and catalyst diagnostics. It fits 2021-2025 Ford applications including the Mustang with the 5.0L V8 and automatic transmission in the right downstream position and the Ranger with the 3.0L engine in the upstream position, making it a multi-application service sensor. A worn or contaminated sensor commonly triggers a check engine light with oxygen sensor or catalyst codes, causes rough idle, hesitation, failed emissions testing, and a measurable drop in fuel economy as the PCM loses accurate exhaust feedback.
