  This genuine Ford part is the turbocharger wastegate actuator, cataloged as By-Pass Control Valve and also listed as Actuator and Mounting Assembly, for the left hand turbocharger on the 2022 through 2025 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6. The actuator controls the wastegate flap inside the turbine housing. Under boost the control system commands the actuator rod to crack the wastegate open so a portion of exhaust gas bypasses the turbine wheel, which regulates turbo speed and holds manifold pressure at the target the engine calibration is asking for. When it sticks or drifts out of calibration the engine either overboosts or cannot reach commanded boost at all. Drivers usually arrive at this part after a check engine light with underboost or overboost condition codes, a noticeable loss of power and sluggish acceleration under load or while towing, a rattling or fluttering noise from the turbo area as a loose actuator rod chatters against a worn linkage, or a hesitation and surge as boost hunts around its target. Carbon buildup on the wastegate shaft and heat cycling of the actuator diaphragm or electric motor are the usual root causes. Ford notes this actuator is normally supplied with the turbocharger assembly, so when it is serviced separately confirm the correct bank before ordering, since the left and right side units are position specific and are not interchangeable. Allow the turbo to cool completely before working near it, and inspect the wastegate arm and bushing for play while the actuator is removed.
