This is the genuine Ford front CV axle shaft snap ring NZ6Z-3B498-A for 22-25 Maverick. The snap ring retains the inner end of the front half shaft in the differential or intermediate shaft, locking the splined stub in place so the axle cannot walk out under load. It is a single-use retaining component and must be replaced whenever the front axle shaft is removed and reinstalled, because a reused ring may not hold its tension and could allow the shaft to disengage. Ford supplies the ring in the correct diameter, thickness, and spring temper for this application so it seats fully in its groove and grips the splines as designed. Installation places a fresh ring on the shaft stub, after which the shaft is pushed into the differential until the ring snaps into its groove and the engagement is confirmed by attempting to pull the shaft back out. The correct circlip variant should be matched to the shaft design used on the vehicle.
