  This is a genuine Ford tail lamp bulb applicable to the 22-26 F-150, F-150 Lightning, Bronco, and Maverick equipped with halogen rear lighting. The bulb provides the brake and tail light function and uses a dual-filament construction in many applications, with the higher-intensity filament serving as the brake light and the lower-intensity filament as the parking and tail lamp. It mounts into the tail light socket through a keyed bayonet base that locks with a quarter-turn motion against a spring-loaded contact. The genuine bulb carries the correct wattage and filament construction for these vehicles' lighting calibration, which controls flasher rate timing on combined brake-turn applications and prevents the instrument cluster from setting a bulb-out warning. Halogen bulbs are wear items that fail through filament fatigue, sometimes catastrophically when one filament shorts to the other inside the envelope.
