  This genuine Ford seal, base number 7J227, seals the automatic transmission oil cooler circuit on current-generation Super Duty trucks, keeping transmission fluid contained where the cooler lines or fittings join the transmission. The transmission oil cooler routes fluid out to be cooled and returned, and this seal prevents leakage at that connection so the transmission maintains its fluid level and operating temperature. A small seal in a high-temperature, pressurized circuit, it must stay pliable and seated to do its job. Owners and technicians replace this seal when they find transmission fluid weeping at the cooler connection, are servicing the cooler lines, or are reassembling the transmission after other repairs.
