• Description:

  This Genuine Ford rear axle cover gasket fits 23-26 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks with either the 10.5 inch or 11.6 inch rear axle. The gasket seals the differential cover to the axle housing, retaining the gear oil and keeping contamination out of the ring and pinion gear set. The gasket is a one-time-use sealing surface; once compressed in service it should not be reused after the cover is removed for any reason, including a routine fluid change, pinion seal service, ring-and-pinion swap, or carrier shim setup work. non-OEM gaskets often miss the correct material composition or bolt pattern, leading to slow seepage and uneven cover clamping. Clean both mating surfaces thoroughly with brake cleaner and a plastic scraper before installation, then install the cover dry without RTV or sealant supplements, and torque the cover bolts in the manufacturer cross pattern to the published specification. Refill the axle with the correct fluid weight and friction modifier where applicable and run the truck briefly before checking for leaks at the cover seam.
