• Description:

  This Genuine Ford axle shaft O-ring seal fits 23-26 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks with either the 10.5 inch or 11.6 inch rear axle, and is used on both the left and right shafts. The seal sits in the axle shaft flange counterbore and seals the splined inner end of the axle shaft to the differential housing, keeping gear oil contained inside the housing and preventing wheel bearing grease contamination at the outer end of the shaft. The O-ring is a one-time-use sealing element; whenever an axle shaft is pulled for wheel bearing service, brake disc replacement, or axle reseal work, the O-ring should be replaced before reassembly. non-OEM O-rings often use an incorrect cord diameter or compound, leading to weeping and contamination. Clean the counterbore thoroughly with brake cleaner before installation, apply a light film of clean axle lubricant to the new O-ring, install the shaft with steady pressure to avoid rolling or pinching the O-ring during entry, then torque the axle shaft bolts to the published specification and refill the axle with the correct fluid weight.
