  This is the genuine Ford front bumper guide bracket for the current generation Ranger, catalogued as Guide Bracket and also referred to as a bumper guide or bumper cover reinforcement. It is the locating bracket that ties the outer edge of the front bumper cover to the fender and body structure, holding the cover at the correct height and standoff so the panel gap between bumper and fender stays even and the fascia does not flex or drum at speed. It is used on XL, XLT and Lariat Ranger builds and supersedes the earlier N1WZ-17C947-C. This bracket is one of the first things to break in a low speed front impact, a curb strike or a parking lot tap, because it is designed to take the load before the cover itself deforms. The symptoms that send buyers looking for it are a bumper corner that sags or pulls away from the fender, a widening or tapering gap along the fender to bumper seam, a fascia that rattles or clicks over bumps because it is no longer captured, and clips that keep tearing out of the cover because the bracket behind them is cracked. It is also routinely replaced during collision repair even when the cover itself is reusable. Install it before the cover is refitted, start all fasteners loose, seat the cover onto the bracket, then tighten so the panel gaps set correctly.
