• Description:

  This genuine Ford Motorcraft manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor measures intake manifold pressure and sends the signal to the engine control module, which uses it to estimate engine load and set the correct fuel delivery and spark timing. It is the original-equipment sensor for older Ford light trucks and SUVs built from roughly 1987 through 1997, including the F-150 and F-250 pickups and the Bronco, along with related Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury applications that share the same speed-density engine management. When this sensor drifts or fails, drivers typically see a check engine light, a rough or unstable idle, hesitation and stumbling on acceleration, hard starting, poor fuel economy, or a rich or lean running condition, because the module can no longer read manifold pressure correctly. On these speed-density systems the MAP signal is central to fueling, so a bad sensor has an immediate effect on drivability and emissions. This Motorcraft unit is the factory-correct replacement and matches the original electrical connector, vacuum port, and calibration so the reading is accurate. Check the vacuum hose and connector for cracks or corrosion during installation, verify fitment against your VIN and engine, and make sure the vacuum line is routed and sealed correctly so the sensor reports true manifold pressure and the repair lasts.
