  This genuine Ford idle speed control valve is built directly into the throttle body assembly and regulates airflow to maintain a smooth, steady idle on the 7.5L 460 cubic inch V8 gasoline engine used in 1990-1994 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 trucks, along with 1990-1991 E-250 and E-350 vans. As the engine computer's controlled bypass air path, this valve opens and closes to compensate for engine load from the air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, and electrical accessories, keeping idle speed steady whether the truck is in park, at a stop light, or just started cold. When this valve sticks, wears, or its internal solenoid fails, drivers typically notice a rough, erratic, or hunting idle, stalling at stops or in gear, an unusually high or surging idle speed, or a complete failure to idle down after startup. A dirty or gummed up valve from carbon buildup can cause the same symptoms even before the part fails outright, so cleaning the throttle body bore is worth checking first.
