• Description:

  This Genuine Ford Motorcraft accessory drive belt tensioner assembly maintains correct tension on the serpentine belt that drives the engine accessories on Ford's 5.0L, 5.8L, and 7.5L V8 truck engines. It fits 1993-1997 Ford trucks and vans including the F-150, F-250, and F-350 pickups, the Bronco, and E-150 through E-350 Econoline vans built with these V8 engines. The spring-loaded tensioner applies steady load to the belt so the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and air-conditioning compressor stay driven without slipping. Typical symptoms of a failing tensioner include a squealing or chirping belt on start-up, a rattling or knocking noise from the front of the engine, visible belt flutter, glazed or frayed belt edges, and a rough or seized pulley bearing. Because the internal spring and pulley bearing wear together, Ford recommends installing the complete tensioner assembly and inspecting the drive belt during the same service. This Motorcraft unit restores factory spring tension and pulley alignment to original specification. Relieve belt tension with the proper serpentine belt tool before removing the belt, follow the factory belt routing on reinstallation, and confirm the pulley spins freely and runs true once installed.
