  This genuine Ford part F81Z-6881-BA is the engine oil filter adapter, also referred to as the oil cooler adapter housing or filter header, used on 1994 through 2003 Ford trucks equipped with the 7.3L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8, including F-250 and F-350 pickups, the E-Series vans, and the Excursion. This cast housing bolts to the engine and serves as the mounting base for the spin-on oil filter while routing engine oil through the integral oil cooler circuit; it directs oil between the pump, the cooler, and the filter so the engine receives clean, temperature-controlled lubrication. Because it carries full oil pressure and sees engine heat, the adapter can develop external oil leaks at its gaskets and mating surfaces, internal cracks, or corrosion, leading to symptoms such as oil weeping down the side of the block, low or fluctuating oil pressure, or oil in the coolant when the internal cooler passages fail.
