  This genuine Ford tube is the exhaust back pressure sensor supply tube for the 1994.5 through 1997 7.3L Power Stroke diesel found in F-250 F-350 F-Super Duty and E-Series vehicles. It threads into the exhaust and routes a sample of exhaust pressure to the exhaust back pressure sensor which the engine computer reads to modulate the exhaust back pressure regulator on the turbocharger for faster cold warm up and consistent power. Although Ford lists this part under the catalog name Tube EGR Valve To Exhaust Manifold the 7.3L Power Stroke has no EGR system and in the field this line functions as the EBP sensor supply tube. Carbon builds up inside the small passage and the tube corrodes and cracks over time which plugs the sensor signal and sets exhaust back pressure fault codes low power a lazy cold start and poor throttle response. The passage can be cleaned out or the tube replaced to restore an accurate pressure signal. Fresh sealing hardware is recommended on reassembly and the fittings should be torqued to specification to prevent an exhaust leak.
