This genuine Ford F5TZ-9C915-A is the vapor canister purge valve solenoid, the electrically operated valve in the evaporative emissions system that meters stored fuel vapor from the charcoal canister into the intake manifold to be burned during normal engine operation. It fits 1995 and 1996 Bronco, F-150, F-250, and F-350 trucks with the 5.0L, 5.8L, and 7.5L V8 engines. The powertrain control module pulses the solenoid open under the right conditions so that captured tank and canister vapors are drawn in and combusted rather than vented to the atmosphere. When the purge solenoid sticks open, sticks closed, or leaks internally, the result is a Check Engine light with EVAP purge or flow trouble codes, a rough or stalling idle, a fuel odor, or a hard start after refueling. Replacing it with the genuine Ford solenoid restores correct vapor metering and clears the related emissions faults.
