This is the front engine cover, or timing cover, that encloses the timing chains, tensioners, and guides and seals the front of the block; it also carries the front crankshaft seal and locates the water pump and front-cover gaskets. Buyers typically need this cover after a front oil leak, a damaged sealing surface, a cracked casting, or during a timing chain, water pump, or front seal job where the original cover is warped or corroded.
