• Description:

  This genuine Ford front timing cover gasket, base number 6020, seals the front engine timing cover to the block on the 4.6L and 5.4L modular V8 engines used in the F-150 and related modular-V8 applications. The gasket seals the timing cover joint, keeping engine oil contained within the timing-drive area at the front of the engine while sealing out dirt and coolant routing at the cover interface. As a front-of-engine oil seal that heat-cycles with the engine, a hardened or crushed gasket allows oil to weep from the timing cover and run down the front of the block. Owners and technicians need this gasket when correcting a front engine oil leak, or whenever the timing cover is removed for water pump, front crank seal, timing chain, or oil pump service. Manufactured to Ford specifications, it restores the original sealing surface and resists the oil and heat at the front of the modular V8. Replace the gasket any time the timing cover is unbolted, clean the block and cover sealing faces thoroughly, and torque the cover fasteners in the correct sequence to specification to avoid distortion. Inspect the water pump and front crank seal while the cover is off so related front-engine leaks are addressed together, and confirm the engine application before ordering.
