• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford right-hand (passenger side) outer tie rod end for the 1997 to 2004 F-150, with application also on Expedition, Navigator and the light-duty F-250. The outer tie rod end connects the steering linkage to the steering knuckle, transferring steering input to the wheel while allowing the knuckle to pivot and the suspension to travel. It uses a ball-stud joint that wears over time. A worn outer tie rod end is a leading cause of loose or wandering steering, uneven and accelerated tire wear, a clunk or rattle from the front end over bumps, and steering-wheel play, and it will eventually fail an alignment or inspection. Replacing the worn end restores tight, predictable steering and protects tire life. Installation involves separating the tapered stud from the knuckle, counting threads or measuring to preserve the toe setting, threading on the new end, torquing the castle nut and installing a new cotter pin where applicable, and then having a front-end alignment performed.
